The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche has urged the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 Corps members to add value to their host communities stating that service year provide once in a lifetime opportunity and they must be ready to give their best and make their impact felt in their host communities.
The Coordinator made the statement while addressing the Corps members at the debriefing for the Orientation Course. He said all Corps members should ensure they report immediately to their places of Primary Assignment and ensure they make their stay count adding that their posting will be basically to four key sectors; Education, Health, Agriculture and Rural Infrastructure. He also said their employers are expected to pay them monthly stipend wherever they are posted.
He also urged them not to miss their monthly biometrics clearance warning them that the punishment for absenteeism is extension of service.He went further to clarify that if one is away consecutively for 3 months such a person would be regarded an abscondee and a wanted person and would be remobilized to start the service year again anytime he or she resurfaces
While warning them against unauthorised journeys, Comrade Odoba said they would be free from danger if they do not embark on any unnecessary travel adding that if there is a need for them to travel within the State, they should seek permission from their Local Government Inspectors but if they are traveling out of the State they must get the State Coordinator’s approval.
The Highlight of the debriefing is the introduction of Zonal Inspectors and Local Government Inspectors while Awards and Commendation letters were presented to deserving Camp Officials and Corps members. Commendation letters were presented to the three Corps Camp Directors and all ten platoon leaders.
