2024 B-2: Lecture series begins at Niger orientation camp

The NYSC Niger State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka has flagged off the Lecture series for the 2024 Batch B Stream II Orientation Course.

The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Paiko today.

In her opening remarks, Mrs Abdulwahab enjoined Corps Members to be attentive during the lectures and take down notes. She stressed that information gathered would come in handy within and after the service year.

She assured them of interesting times during lectures, saying that they would be spiced by short breaks and interludes. She therefore proceeded to teach them some songs and anecdotes, which are to serve as breathing space and the corps members learnt them eagerly.

The Lecture series kicked off with a sensitization/ awareness creation on security by Dr. Bala Dalhatu, a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Information Science and Media Studies, Federal University of Technology, Minna, who is also a security consultant with Conflict, Security and Development Consults, Abuja.

Dr Dalhatu spoke extensively on matters pertaining to security in the nation. He addressed Corps Members on the importance of security awareness, emphasizing that security is not an affair of the government alone. He gave some tips that would help corps members stay safe during the orientation exercise, the rest of the service year and beyond.

Other lectures held included Gender and SERVICOM Lectures by Mrs Amina Umar and ICT Lecture by Mr Eze Christopher.
