2024 B-2: NYSC is building new generation of employers of labour, says Ondo Coordinator

The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple has disclosed that the purpose and intent of the Scheme is to build new generations of wealth creators through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

To this end, corps members have been advised to embrace the opportunity provided by the intervention to acquire skills that will make them relevant in life.

The State Coordinator made the statement while declaring open the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme on Monday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Pepple, emphasised the need for corps members to acquire skills and develop themselves so that their net worth will have a positive impact on the society, which, according to him, will fast track the nation’s economic development.

He noted that the only way to create wealth was to insure themselves against unemployment through the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills they are passionate about.

The NYSC helmsman enjoined corps members to devote themselves to learning skills and building capacity in order to get prepared to tackle unemployment challenges in the future.

The Coordinator assured them that at the end of their training, they would have been able to access opportunities which will lead to job creation as a result of skills they have acquired, stating that, the future was guaranteed if they continued with post-camp training.

The NYSC Ondo State boss disclosed that the purpose of the programme is to build the capacity of members of the service corps, create wealth, and ensure that they became employers of labour.

He, therefore, urged them to be creative and innovative with the skill, as these parameters would further enhance their success in the competitive world of entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, in her opening remarks, the Head of SAED Committee on camp, Pastor Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu, said NYSC placed premium on SAED because building the capacity of corps members was the priority of the Scheme.

She added that NYSC had put things in place to make sure the learning process was seamless and stress-free, just as she admonished the corps participants to put in their best to reciprocate the good gesture of the Scheme.

The in-camp training would be intensive for ten days with competent and trusted professionals who would serve as Trainers/Facilitators for the eleven sub-skill sets that have been approved for the programme, while the post-camp would assist members of the service corps to improve upon and perfect on the skills they choose.

The Trainers/Facilitators introduced their sub sets to the corps members and encouraged them to make hay while the sun shines, while Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) was introduced to the corps members to further drive home the importance of the SAED programme.
