1200 Corps Members took Oath of National service in Benue

The Executive Governor of Benue State Rev fr. Hyacinth Alia has advised the Batch B, Stream two Corps Members deployed to Benue State for the 2024 Service year to prioritise the skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship programme of the NYSC. The Governor, gave the advice at the official opening ceremony of the Orientation Course exercise held at NYSC Camp, Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area in the State.

“I admonished you to take the program seriously as it is a door to great fortune”, he stated.

The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development,Mr John Akume, reminded the Corps Members that they have a great role to play in shaping the future of the country and charged them to “serve the country with unreserved loyalty and dedication”.
He equally reiterated his administration’s commitment to the security, safety and welfare of the Corps Members in all nooks and crannies of the State.

Governor Alia, commended the State Coordinator, Mrs Veronica Garba and the Camp Officials for tutoring the Corps Members with the requisite Leadership Skills.
Earlier, in her welcome speech, the State Coordinator, Mrs Veronica Garba expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Reverend Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for his unflinching love and support that the NYSC Scheme enjoyed under his leadership since the assumption of Office.

“Your Excellency Sir, I want you to know that all the serving Corps Members are extremely happy with the regular payment of their monthly State allowance of Fifteen and Hundreds thousands naira and the recent approval of One Million naira to the four outstanding 2023 Batch B, Corps Members”,she added.

The Coordinator, equally thanked the Executive Governor, Father Alia for his timely intervention on the challenge of erosion in the Orientation Camp by awarding a contract for the Construction of drainages and road network; while also stressing that the ongoing work has reached an advanced stage.

Mrs Veronica further advised the Corps Members to make the best out of the opportunity provided by the Federal Government as well as welfare packages put in place by the Benue State Government to actively participate in every aspect of the NYSC Orientation Course and other Cardinal programmes in the State.

High points of the Programme, was the administration of the Oath of Allegiance to Corps Members by the Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice M.A Ikpambese, represented by Justice Josphine Ayua.
