The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ANSEMA), has distributed relief materials to households affected by a fire disaster in Unubi, Nnewi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The relief materials, comprising both food and non-food items, were provided as part of the federal government’s ongoing support to disaster-affected communities.

This was disclosed in a post on NEMA’s X handle on Wednesday, September 11.

The post reads: “NEMA’s South East Zonal Office, in collaboration with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ANSEMA), distributed relief materials to households affected by a fire disaster in Unubi, Nnewi LGA, Anambra State. The event, held at Unubi Town Hall due to weather conditions, was attended by community leaders and representatives.

“Ngozi Echeazu, acting Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, who represented the Director General, Mrs Zubaida Umar, empathized with the affected residents and noted the significant losses suffered due to the fire incident earlier in the year. The distributed relief items, including food and non-food supplies, were provided as part of the Federal Government’s support.

“Echeazu urged recipients to use the relief items wisely and to ensure safe storage of flammable materials and proper electrical wiring.

“Community leaders expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention, and the event, covered by NTA, concluded with the direct distribution of the relief materials to the beneficiaries”.
