Be The Source Of Wealth Creation – Commissioner Urges Imo Corps Members

The Imo State Honourable Commissioner of Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Hon. Dr. Mandela Ukaegbu has urged the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream lI Corps Members deployed to the State to see themselves as sources of wealth creation and entrepreneurs by engaging in skills acquisition under the NYSC Scheme SAED programme.

Addressing the Corps Members at the SAED Closing Ceremony at Eziama Obaire Camp, Hon. Ukaegbu, informed the Corps Members that the Pan – Nigerian friendly Government of Imo State, would support and develop their skills by providing them with intervention funds to sustain their skills in the State.

The Commissioner further assured the Corps of the State Government’s readiness to enhance their skills while tasking them to be more committed and use their ingenuity to develop their host communities through their Service year.

He equally informed the Corps Members that as part of the State Government’s plan towards supporting them in skills acquisition, Corps Members who are skilled and wish to establish in the State aside monetary intervention, will be entitled to tax free businesses from the State Government, free office spaces and registration of such skill/business.

The Corps Members were further encouraged to have the mindset of building the State and the Nation at large. “As Corps Members who are productive, be reminded that the development of Nigeria is your responsibility “- said Ukaegbu.

The Commissioner in his remark to declare the SAED ceremony closed for the Batch, highly commended the NYSC Management. Saying that the Scheme is the bedrock of Youth development with emphasis on empowering the Youths with skills.

The NYSC Imo State Coordinator Mrs Rachel Idaewor in her remark, commended the Corps Members for their level of commitment during the SAED In-Camp training while encouraging them to continue with the Post Camp SAED training to further master their chosen skill.

She also appreciated the State Government for providing the enabling environment for the Corps Members deployed to the State to showcase their talents.

The occasion which had in attendance the Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Skills Acquisition Hon. Chidi Onyebuchi, Special Adviser Regional Integration and Cooperation Hon. Wilson Nwafor with the NYSC Imo State Management, had an inspection of Corps Members finished products on exhibition. The SAED Closing cake was also cut by the dignitaries present at the event.
