Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of violating the Electoral Act.
Fintiri, who also serves as the chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, made the allegations during a press conference on Sunday, September 22, at the party’s situation room in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
According to him, agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were denied access to collation centres, raising concerns about the transparency and fairness of the ongoing electoral process.
This was disclosed in a video by Channel TV on Sunday, September 22.
The statement reads: “I did not announce, I’m quite aware of the Electoral Act provision, and I did not announce results. I only informed the public about the exact figure from our coalition agenda that was ongoing before INEC disrupted the process and they moved the coalition to the INEC headquarters, which is also contrary to the Electoral Act provision.
“So INEC should be accused of violating the electoral act, not me because I have not announced any result. I only released figures that were ongoing as at the coalition time that INEC stopped coalition at this sentence.”
