INEC presents certificate of return to Edo gov-elect, Okpebholo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially presented certificates of return to Monday Okpebholo, the newly elected governor of Edo State, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.

The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja, where Rhoda Gumus, the national commissioner representing Edo State, handed over the certificates to the governor-elect and his deputy.

The electoral body had on Sunday, September 22, declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo winner of the State gubernatorial election.

Okpebholo had secured 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.
