Leave Your Footprint on the sands of time – NYSC Tells Corps Members

 

The Director, NYSC North Central Area Office 2, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has charged Corps Members serving in Benue State to leave impactful life and legacy worthy of emulation during the national service year and beyond.

She gave the charge during her address to them at the NYSC Secretariat, Makurdi today during her oversight tour of States under the Zone.

According to the her,the service year gives opportunity to write their names on the sand of time.

She reiterated that Corps Members, ought to make themselves relevant ,” leave life of impact, let it be on record that “an impactful individual has passed by, and also be role models”.

Mrs Ogbuogebe further charged the Corps Members to be security conscious as well as interact very well with people ” don’t be a lone ranger”. Don’t feel too big that you will not relate with people “, she emphasized.

She further admonished the youths to be prayerful,while also imploring the Corps Members to be good, godly and develop lasting relationships.

“Good and lasting relationships are built during the service year”.

She further encouraged the corps members to sustain the skills they started with from the camp and master them for self employment.

Mrs Ogbuogebe informed the Corps Members to note that they are important assets to the scheme and the nation; meant to be mentored towards being better Citizens.

“I want you to know that you gave the jobs we are doing today; don’t look down on yourselves. Follow the rules, don’t follow wrong people to circumvent the process. We give you commendation when you do well and punish you, when you do wrong “, she concluded.
The director later had an interactive session with the staff of the Secretariat.
The pioneer Director North Central Area office 2 , advised the staff to be hard working,diligent, dedicated; imbibe professionalism in their duties, proactive and be abreast with civil service and NYSC informations and operations. She also cautioned the staff to have zero tolerance to extortion and other vices that may bring the Scheme’s image to disrepute.

She encouraged them to always appear pleasant and take good care of their health. “don’t neglect your health”, she said.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs Veronica Garba, welcomed the Director for the the visit to the State; which she described as timely and motivational to the Staff.

She told the Director that the Staff of NYSC Benue State Secretariat are overjoyed with her presence; while emphasising that they are very supportive and efficient in their respective responsibilities.

The Coordinator, pledged readiness of the secretariat for continued partnership with the State Government and other stakeholders in order to achieve the Scheme’s mandate.

High points of the visit were inspection of some offices,SAED Centre and photo session.
