Patience Adekunle, a Corps Member serving with the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, recently captured attention when she unveiled a remarkable portrait of Her Excellency, Amb. Erelu Ngozi Abeni Adeleke, the Wife of the Governor of Osun State. The presentation took place during the 2024 International Education Day event held at Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa, Osun State.
In a display of exceptional talent and creativity, Patience drew the portrait live at the event and presented it to Her Excellency amidst the commemoration activities. Her ability to complete such a stunning piece in a short time showcased not only her skill but also her potential as an artist.
Upon receiving the portrait, Her Excellency expressed her admiration for Patience’s craft. She applauded the young artist for using the platform to showcase her God-given talent, noting how impressed she was with the creativity on display. Members of the First Lady’s entourage also lauded Patience efforts.
Speaking after the event, Patience shared her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to meet the First Lady. She expressed that meeting Her Excellency through her art was a dream come true. “I may not have had the chance to meet the First Lady on a regular day, but I’m grateful that my craft brought me this opportunity,” she said.
Patience revealed that Her Excellency was so moved by the portrait that she adopted her as a daughter. The gesture fulfilled one of Patience’s personal goals to document such achievements during her NYSC year.
Reflecting on the experience, Patience admitted that she initially felt nervous about completing the painting within the time constraints. However, she prayed for courage and was able to finish the piece in time to present it before the First Lady left the event.
Overall, the unveiling of the portrait was a resounding success, with Patience earning well-deserved praise for her artwork.
