Approved Corps Members’ Relocation Without Delay – Netizen Tells NYSC

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

A social media user, Taiwo Victor Olatunde, has called on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to approve relocations for corps members who wish to move outside their state of deployment due to security reasons.

Taking to the scheme’s social media page comment section on Tuesday, Taiwo urged the scheme to take necessary action, while emphasizing that service to the nation shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair.

Taiwo Victor Olatunde wrote: “Corps members who are willing to relocate due to security reasons should have their requests approved without delay. It is high time NYSC did the needful. Serving in a particular state shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair. Approve corps members who have willingly applied to relocate. Thanks.”

In a swift response to his comment, ex-corps member Thomas Abidoye argued that NYSC will never post corps members to locations with security issues.

He urged corps members to approach their State Coordinator for reposting to a safer environment if needed.

He wrote: “NYSC will never post corps members to areas with security issues. If there are security threats where you are, approach your State Coordinator to request reposting to a safer location.

“You are making it seem like the scheme hasn’t done enough in its operations. Almost 99% of corps members are willing to relocate to either their home state or a nearby location due to security concerns. The scheme is aware of areas with security threats and will never post corps members to such areas.”
