Breaking: Dutse Emir Begs NYSC to stop corps members relocation

The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hamim Muhammad Nuhu Sunusi, has decried the increasing rate of relocation demands by parents and Corps Members to the state of their choice.

Hamim raised the concerns when he played host to the NYSC Jigawa Coordinator at his palace in Dutse.

He explained that the ugly trend, if allowed unchecked, will defeat the purpose of the scheme to foster unity among Nigerians through the deployment of graduates to serve their fatherland outside their comfort zones.

The Monarch also urged the Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) not to succumb to relocation pressures, rather it should enforce adherence to its posting policy.

According to him, “NYSC is the binding force of Nigerian unity, if relocation is encouraged, it will erodes the mission and vision of the founding fathers of the scheme”.

“Issues of relocation should not be taken lightly, as it negatively affects some communities, especially states like ours where we are in need of young, vibrant and professional graduates to man critical sectors of our economy.

“As such, I urge the managers of the scheme to stop in totality the indiscriminate relocation of corps members without a genuine course”. He added.

The Royal father thereafter, appreciated the Coordinator for visiting the palace and saluted the efforts of the NYSC in its quest for the unity and socio – economic development of the country.

Earlier in his remarks, the state’s Coordinator, Alhaji Jidda Dawut appreciated the Monarch for his support of the scheme in the state, which he described as top notch and always makes the operations of the scheme smooth.

Dawut also sought for the traditional leaders’ assistance in sensitising his subjects to support Corps Members deployed to the State.
