Breaking: NYSC Nasarawa extends 17 corps members service year

A total of 1,739 Corps members have successfully completed their 2023 Batch C Stream I Service Year in Nasarawa State and were awarded Certificates of National Service in a low-key passing out ceremony. However, 17 Corps members will be required to repeat their service year for failing to meet the necessary criteria.

The ceremony, held at various Local Government Areas across the state, was marked by a sense of accomplishment as Corps members gathered to receive their certificates. Despite the subdued nature of the event, it reflected the core values of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program—dedication, selflessness, and making a positive impact on local communities.

At the Lafia Local Government Area, the NYSC State Coordinator, Salamatu A. Muhammad, praised the Corps members for their hard work and contributions to community development. She encouraged them to continue embodying the spirit of service as they move forward in their careers.

“Develop yourselves further to be self-reliant. It’s better to have a skill and not need it than to need a skill and not have it. It’s never too late to learn. While waiting for good job opportunities, use your free time productively. If you must travel, plan properly and avoid night travel. On behalf of the NYSC family, we thank you for your service,” she advised, while offering prayers for the Corps members’ safety and success.

The distribution of Certificates of National Service was the highlight of the ceremony, symbolizing not only the completion of a legal requirement but also the hard work and dedication that each Corps member put into their service year for the betterment of the nation.
