Corps members receive HIV/AIDS lecture at NYSC Osun camp

Mr Dare Adeoye has on Monday facilitated an essential HIV/AIDs education at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State.

In a practical and interactive session with the 2024 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members, Mr Adeoye gave a comprehensive overview of the difference between HIV and AIDS. He explained that while HIV weakens the immune system, making it harder for the body to fight infections, AIDS represents the virus’s advanced stage.

During the session, he highlighted the primary ways HIV is transmitted, such as through unprotected sex and the use of unsterilized sharp objects like blades and needles. He introduced the ABC prevention strategy—Abstinence, Being faithful to one partner, and Correct and consistent use of condoms—urging Corps Members to take responsibility for their sexual health to protect their lives and careers.

The session also featured a practical demonstration on the proper usage of the male and female condoms. Mr. Adeoye also addressed the challenges of unintended pregnancies, particularly for young women, and emphasized staying focused on personal and professional goals.

The lecture concluded with the distribution of condoms, reinforcing the key messages shared during the session.
