Do not violate NYSC Bye-laws – AD warns Oyo corps members

The Assistant Director Corps Discipline and Reward, Dr. Solomon Babalola has warned Corps members undergoing the 2024 Batch’B’ Stream II Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin, not to violate NYSC Byelaws stressing that those who go against the Byelaws would be prosecuted for their wrongs while outstanding corps members would be dully rewarded for their good works. He said Corps Discipline and Reward operates “ carrot and stick “ system.

He gave the warning while delivering the lecture on Discipline and rewards branch of the NYSC. He stated that the branch is under Corps Welfare and Health Services being headed by a Director at the Headquarters and headed by an Assistant Director at the State level.

Dr. Babalola emphasized on the need for corps members to be disciplined and obey all rules pertaining to the camp and the rest of the service year to stay out of trouble and extension of service.

He advised all corps members to obtain permission before traveling, and all applications for permission must be passed through the local government inspector, through the Zonal Inspector to the State Coordinator, the only one who has the authority to grant permission to travel out of the State.

He urged all corps members to do their monthly clearance in other to get their monthly allowance. He encouraged them to focus on the service year and contribute their quota to the fatherland and avoid ‘ghosting’ whereby a Corps member does not stay to work where they are posted to serve. ‘

According to the Head Discipline and Reward,If they are absent for one month of clearance, their service will be extended by two months, absence of three months implies that the Corps member has absconded and the Corps member will be remobilized and posted to an entirely different state from the initial one.
