Education CDS Group Visits Orphanage, Brings Joy to Little Angels of Fatima Home

The Education Community Development Service (CDS) group paid a visit to the children of Little Angels of Fatima Catholic Home in Osogbo, to foster learning, creativity, and self-development.

Led by the group’s President Anamoh Jafar Enesi, the Corps Members were warmly welcomed by Sister Elizabeth, who represented Bishop Most Rev. John Akinkunmi Oyejola and other esteemed officials.

Sister Elizabeth shed light on the home’s partnership with the Ministry of Women and Children’s Social Affairs (MWCSA), catering to children who have lost their mothers or been abandoned. She explained that MWCSA has six zones in Osun State, namely Osogbo, Ede, Iwo, Ife, Ilesa, and Ikirun with each having a social welfare office, ensuring a structured support system. She further explained that any child brought to the home must come from one of these zones, with the welfare officer and State Secretariat in Abere duly be informed.

The home, formerly known as “The Motherless and Abandoned Baby Unit,” has faced challenges in finding foster parents. Despite this, Sister Elizabeth emphasized that no child should spend more than a year in the home. Thanks to the hospital’s oversight and external donations, 13 children are in nursery and primary school, five have completed their WASSCE and UTME, and five are already in university.

Sister Elizabeth encouraged Corps Members to continue spreading joy beyond formal visits, highlighting September 17th as St. Francis’ day, who empathized with Jesus’ pain by reaching out to the abandoned. Using this medium, she encouraged Corps Members to set aside days apart from formal visitation and projects like this to put smiles on home members’ faces.

The Education CDS President, Anamoh Jafar Enesi, appreciated the members of the home and presented donations of essential items on behalf of Corps Members, including tissue papers, stationaries, notebooks, soaps and detergents, and the sum of ₦50,000 cash. The visit concluded with a heartwarming photo session, capturing the smiles and connections made.
