Hope For Corps Members As Tinubu Confirms Signing Minimum Wage

President Tinubu has confirmed signing the N70,000 national minimum wage into law.

The president made this known in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest in the country.

According to the president, “I signed the National Minimum Wage into law last week, and the lowest-earning workers will now earn at least N70,000 a month.”

It should be recalled that corps members serving the nation are currently receiving the minimum wage of N33,000, which was approved by former President Buhari.

The NYSC Director General, Gen. Y.D. Ahmed, had earlier hinted that the corps members’ salaries would be reviewed once the president approved the new minimum wage.

Corps members are now waiting for the federal government’s decision on this matter, which may take some time before full implementation.
