Platoon 3 has won the 2024 Batch ‘B’ stream II Inter-Platoon drills competition held at the NYSC Kogi State orientation camp Kabba, on Wednesday 11 September 2024. The platoon was commanded by corps member James Daniel and trained by its military instructor, Staff Sergeant Fred Friday Makeri.
Addressing the Corps Members before the start of the competition, the State Coordinator, Mr. Femi Osungbohun encouraged the Corps Members to reflect on the teachings and values already imparted on them. “It is a competition,” he said, “and there will be winners and those who will be behind. However, the essence of participation is what truly matters, which is to display discipline, love, and friendship.”
The parade, considered a cornerstone of discipline, was an impressive display of control and military command.
The corps members who arrived at the orientation camp with little or no knowledge of military drills or regimentation, however, mastered the techniques, executing precise, rhythmic marches to the admiration of the camp community.
To ensure a fair evaluation of the participating corps members, military personnel from the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Lokoja were invited to serve as judges.
The competition ended with platoon 3 emerging the overall best, much to the delight of its members. The best three (3) platoons were presented with trophies in recognition of their deserving victory.
