Three corps members win Unity bank  corpreneurship grant in Nasarawa

At the Closing Ceremony of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) In-Camp Training for the 2024 NYSC Batch B Stream II Orientation Course, three Corps members now known Corpreneurs won grants from Unity Bank, following the intelligent defense of their business proposals.

At the Closing Ceremony, the NYSC Nasarawa State Coordinator, Mrs. Salamatu A. Muhammad, lauded the Corps members for their dedication, commitment and concentration throughout the in-camp training.

In her closing remarks, Salamatu urged Corps members not to rest on their oars or basic knowledge. Instead she emphasized the benefits of the SAED Post-camp training and thus encouraged corps members to leverage on the provided opportunity and horn their skills. Furthermore, the State Coordinator further stressed the importance of utilizing available funding options, provided by the NYSC to enhance their budding businesses.

Preceeding her address, the State Coordinator, accompanied by camp officials, toured the exhibitions showcasing the diverse skills acquired during the SAED classes. The Corps members, trained in areas such as interior decoration, tye-dye, tailoring, makeup, gele tying, bead making, paint production, leatherwork, cosmetology, catering, hairstyling, haircuts, solar installation, and ICT, presented impressive displays.

The chief judge announced results for various categories, underscoring the competitive spirit of the training. Platoon 6 claimed victory in Hats & Fascinators, with Platoon 3 and Platoon 9 securing second and third positions, respectively. In Leatherworks, the honors again went to Platoon 6, followed by Platoon 10 and Platoon 2. In Tye & Dye, Platoon 7 emerged victorious, Platoon 9 took the second spot, and Platoon 2 secured third place. All participants received consolation prizes, in recognition of their efforts.

The highlight of the event was qualification of three Corpreneurs who stood out in the defence of their business proposals against seven other corps members, and they were rewarded with grants from Unity Bank as follows:
KANTIYOK MIRACLE (FC/24B/3289) won 800,000 naira grant for her interior decor business; AIYEDERO MERCY (FC/24/4987) won the sum of 500,000 naira grant for her poultry business while AKOR MANAKA FAITH (NS/24B/3199) won the sum of 300,000 naira grant for her makeup business. Others were given consolation prizes from Unity Bank as well.

Expressing satisfaction with the Corps members’ progress, Mrs. Salamatu commended the SAED trainers for their exceptional job. She also appreciated the sponsors of the program – Norrenberger Financial Investment Fund, who equally contributed to the success of the ceremony.

Thus the SAED In-Camp Training was officially declared closed, marking a significant step forward for the Corps members on their journey towards personal and professional development.
