Stay away from crime – ICPC tells Oyo Corps Members

A Principal Superintendent of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mrs. Babatunde Tayo, delivered a lecture at the Iseyin Permanent Orientation Camp in Oyo State, addressing corps members on the fight against corruption and the need for integrity in both public and private sectors.

She defined corruption as dishonest or fraudulent conduct, such as bribery, embezzlement, or abuse of office, noting that it hinders national development by fostering poverty and weakening institutions.

The ICPC official stated that, the Agency combats corruption through investigations, enforcement of anti-corruption laws, and promoting public awareness of ethical practices. Corps members were encouraged to be ambassadors of integrity, report corruption during their service year, and refuse to engage in any corrupt activities.

She also highlighted its whistleblowing mechanism, allowing anonymous reporting of corruption, and urged corps members to use it to expose wrongdoings in their communities or workplaces.

Mrs. Babatunde stressed that the future of Nigeria depends on its youth, urging corps members to build a reputation for honesty, transparency, and hard work—critical elements in creating a corruption-free Nigeria.

The lecture served as a call to action for corps members to embrace integrity, reject corruption, and play an active role in promoting accountability and positive change in Nigeria.
