The federal allowance for corps members is ₦77,000 per month. It was increased from ₦33,000 after the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act of 2024.
Who gets it
Every serving corps member gets the same federal amount, whatever state you're posted to, your course or your PPA.
How it's paid
- It's paid monthly into the bank account you registered with NYSC.
- You must be cleared for the month (by your PPA and LGI) to receive it.
- Payment dates vary — it often arrives towards the end of the month.
State and local top-ups
Some state governments and local councils pay an extra stipend on top of the federal allowance. Amounts vary widely and change often. For example, Urue-Offong/Oruko LGA in Akwa Ibom recently approved an extra ₦20,000 per month.
Your PPA may also pay you a monthly stipend. Ask about it when you report.
