Your call-up letter

Call-up letters are usually released a few days before camp opens. When yours is available:

  1. Log in to the NYSC portal and print the call-up letter in colour.
  2. Make at least four photocopies.
  3. Check that your name, state of deployment and camp address are correct.
  4. Don't laminate it — officials may need to stamp or write on it.

What to do this week

  • Confirm your NERD clearance is complete — NYSC has said there is no registration without it.
  • Arrange transport to your camp so you arrive on 30 September or 1 October. Arriving early means shorter queues.
  • Pack your documents in a waterproof folder (see our camp packing list).
  • Save your biometric fingers in memory — your fingerprints are verified in camp.

What happens in the first three days

Registration in camp involves document checks, biometric verification, a medical check, hostel allocation and collection of your NYSC kit. It's busy, so be patient and keep your documents together.

The swearing-in ceremony on 2 October is when you formally take the oath and become a corps member.
