Corps members posted to Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State will now receive an extra ₦20,000 every month, the council chairman, Chief Uno Etim Uno, announced on 17 September 2026.
"For the corps members serving here, we have approved a monthly stipend of N20,000 for each of the corps members, and the payment takes immediate effect."
What this means
- The stipend applies only to corps members serving in Urue-Offong/Oruko LGA — not the whole state.
- It is paid in addition to the federal allowance of ₦77,000.
- That brings the monthly total for affected corps members to about ₦97,000.
Why local top-ups matter
The federal allowance is the same for every corps member in the country. Some states and local governments add their own stipend to help with rent, transport and feeding. Amounts, and whether they are paid regularly, vary a lot from place to place.
