Orientation camp lasts about three weeks. Pack well and you'll save money, time and stress. This is our complete list.

Keep these together in a waterproof folder:

- Degree certificate or statement of result — original and photocopies
- NERD clearance slip
- Valid ID (NIN slip, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card)
- 6–10 passport photographs on a white background
- Marriage certificate and name-change documents (married women, if applicable)
- Medical report, if you have a condition camp officials should know about

You'll wear white for morning drills and many activities, so pack more than you think:

- 2–3 pairs of white shorts
- White canvas/sneakers
- Several pairs of white socks
NYSC issues your khaki uniform, crested vest, jungle boots, cap and belt in camp. See our guide to buying your whites.
Personal care
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, sponge, towel
- Bucket and a small bowl
- Detergent and bleach for washing whites
- Toilet roll and wet wipes
- Slippers for the bathroom
- Any medication you take regularly
Comfort
- Bedsheet and a light blanket
- Mosquito net and insect repellent
- Padlock for your locker or box
- Power bank and chargers
- Torchlight
- Some casual clothes for evenings and social nights
